Total production: 100 pieces, delivery begins March 2023

We wanted to do something really special for our 5th anniversary. It would certainly come out of the Special Projects Cave, the source of our more unusual watches, and would have to be made in larger (though still not large) numbers than previously - we are painfully aware that due to exotic movement availability and engineering challenges, we have not been able to offer many SPC pieces to date.

Not long ago, we found, secured and reworked a number of the right movement in time to announce reference #50 for our 5th anniversary celebrations. Back in the 90s, a certain group formed of Messers. Journe, Halter and Flageollet designed a hand-winding monopusher chronograph movement that would find fame in a tortue-shape case; it is an improved version of this very same movement which you will find inside our new 37.04. The movements have been overhauled, updated and refinished by La Joux Perret in La-Chaux-de-Fonds to our specifications, with new skeletonized bridges receiving a classical grained 5N rose gold coating and hand-polished anglage in the style of our 19.02 and 19.05.

Topping this is a black guilloche dial by Comblemine – a dial producer that requires little introduction. This dial is in turn covered by a sapphire layer that embeds the various chronograph scales (minutes, pulsometer, tachymeter) at different levels and in Super-LumiNova X1 to further enhance depth and legibility. We sank the chronograph minute counter - also luminous embedded - into the metal dial and eliminated running seconds in the interests of minimalism.

All of this sits in a 37-series case, with signature flared and twisted lugs. It is made of grade 5 titanium with display back, multiple textured finishes, and reengineered for a crown-inline monopusher. Manufacture Schwarz-Etienne remains responsible for engineering and final assembly, with our usual partners Jean Rousseau and Koji Sato providing finishing touches.

We have enough movements and spares to make 100 of these watches available; with allocation priority given to existing customers on the SPC Interest List (though hopefully there are enough to satisfy a greater audience).

MING continually aims to improve aesthetics and functionality of products where possible; to this end we reserve the right to make changes prior to final delivery.

This guide applies to the following watches/ variants:

  • 37.04 MONOPUSHER

Winding & power reserve:

  • The 37.04 Monopusher is equipped with a hand/manual winding LJP 5000.M1 movement.
  • This movement has a ~38 hour power reserve when fully wound.
  • The movement can be wound by turning the crown clockwise (away from you).
  • The movement is equipped with a hard stop, to avoid overwinding. When you feel a resistance or a point beyond which the crown will not turn, please stop winding.
  • Forcing the crown past this point will damage the mainspring and result in the watch requiring an out-of-warranty service.

Setting the time:

The crown has two positions:

  • The first position (pushed all the way in) is where the crown should be for wearing and to ensure water resistance. The watch can also be hand wound in this position.
  • The second position (one click out) allows for the setting of the hour and minute hands. Once the time is set, please push the crown back in to ensure water resistance.
  • Please stop the chronograph before setting the hour and minute hands.

Operating the chronographe:

  • To start, stop and reset the chronograph, push the pusher on the crown at 3 o' clock.
  • Avoid pulling out the crown while the chronographe is still running.
  • Do not operate the chronograph pusher while underwater.

Other useful information:

  • The best way to clean the watch is with a soft, clean and damp cloth. We strongly discourage the use of any cleaning agents or solutions.
  • We use different formulations and techniques to apply lume on the dials, hands, crystal and other components etc. This results in a slight difference in the peak brightness and length of luminesence between the two. This is normal.
  • Modern luminous material requires charging to work effectively. Lume can be charged with direct exposure to bright sunlight or a strong light source such as a LED torch. The stronger the light source, the faster lume charges.
