Horologer MING - Watches by MING

Summer, science fiction and spring bars…

We start our monthly update with a minor rebrand - MING/ Journal is now MING/ Dispatches.

June also means the advent of summer, and we welcomed long days and sunny skies with our latest Special Project: the 20.01 Series 5. Inspired by science fiction, it showcases an intricate, complex and awesome dial. You can read hands on impressions at Fratello or check out this video from Monochrome Watches.

Together with Collective Horology, we’d like to thank everyone who showed up to Open House in Los Angeles this month. Congratulations to the winners of our giveaway, and to the new owners who are currently enjoying their new MINGs. You can find Collective’s recap of the day here.

During our Singapore Trunk Show - Ken, the Founder of Delugs, sat down with Praneeth to chat about the “fundamental tension between artistic vision and commercial reality, between pushing boundaries and maintaining accessibility.“ We invite you to check out the interview, and get some inside baseball on design, development and the daily fires we fight here at MING.

We’re cheating a little with this month’s sign off. Usually we like to share something from outside the watch world but for June, we revisit Jack Forster’s “…Surprisingly Not Totally Boring Search For Who Invented The Spring Bar”. Nine years later this remains one of the finest pieces of watch geekery ever and it is surprisingly, not totally tedious to read about the search for who invented the spring bar.

Until next month,

Team MING
