Please note that the Polymesh is produced in small weekly batches. We will deliver in the sequence of orders, and it may take up to 4-6 weeks to deliver your Polymesh.
When we first introduced the MING Polymesh, it raised a simple question: what exactly is it?
Polymesh combines the durability and tactile presence of a metal bracelet with the flexibility and comfort of a fabric strap. Produced entirely from grade-5 titanium using additive manufacturing, the structure flows like cloth while retaining the density and strength expected from a metal bracelet. It was the world’s first 3D-printed titanium bracelet-strap hybrid.
The Polymesh – Straight expands this idea beyond MING watches. It retains the same architecture as the original but replaces our signature curved spring bars with standard straight spring bars, allowing the Polymesh to fit a wide range of watches with 20mm lug widths.
Each Polymesh – Straight contains 1,742 interconnected elements, printed simultaneously in grade-5 titanium. These elements form a continuous closed-loop topology with no pins, screws, or traditional assembly. Even the integrated tuck buckle and its articulated hinge are created during the same printing process. The only components added afterward are the quick-release spring bars.
Polymesh is produced through powder-bed laser sintering, where successive layers of titanium powder are sintered together by laser. More than 1,000 layers are required to create a single Polymesh.
The tolerances between moving components can be as tight as 30 microns, smaller than the width of a human hair. Too tight and the links fuse together. Too loose and the articulation loses its intended fluidity.
The result behaves differently from both traditional bracelets and straps. The extremely small links allow the Polymesh to conform naturally to the wrist, while the titanium construction retains the cool density and tactile feel of metal.
The goal was simple: combine the strength of a bracelet with the comfort of a strap.
Each Polymesh requires several hours of additive manufacturing followed by careful finishing to remove surface burrs and printing artifacts. This process ensures smooth articulation and a soft feel against the skin.
Despite its thin and fluid structure, the Polymesh is extremely strong. Laboratory testing showed it capable of withstanding nearly 1,000 newtons of tensile force, with the spring bar failing before the Polymesh itself in destructive testing.
Because MING cases use curved lugs, the original Polymesh was designed specifically for our watches. However, demand quickly grew for a more universal version. The Polymesh – Straight answers thatrequest. With conventional straight 20mm spring bars, it can be worn across a wide range of watches.
It also represents something unusual for us: the first MING product created primarily to be worn on watches we did not make.
